Earthquake crisis in China
On Wednesday the 21st May, 7B1 were told by Miss Basing, our English teacher, that the Head Girls were organising an Emergency Lunch Time Ents with Spotlight to raise money for the victims of the horrifying China Earthquake.
As a form, we decided that we wanted to do something to help and sprang into action! We had loads of ideas and all pulled together to bring it all together in just two days! Emily Wilson said, “I had some friends over that evening and we spent hours decorating cakes with ‘Save China’ slogans. It was fun and we knew the money would help the victims of the Earthquake.
On Friday 23rd May we held a bric-a-brac sale of items donated by members of the form, which was a huge success. Mr Maughan went to the sale and said “This is brilliant bric-a-brac. I have been looking for a nail varnish dryer for ages and am so pleased I found one here today! We also held a cake sale, a raffle and a games stall, and raised over £60!
We are so proud of ourselves for putting it all together in such a short time and managing to raise money for such an important cause. Miss Basing said, “When the girls were coming up with all these ideas, I was seriously worried that they wouldn’t have the time to sort it all out, so I was so impressed when I saw how much time and effort they had put in to make their little enterprise such a huge success.
