The English Department at Avonbourne School has recently introduced a new competition. ‘The Poet of the Week’ gives a chance for young people to enter their poems into a contest.

The idea of this challenge was thought up in early March, and put into action later that month. It encourages students to express their views on issues whilst helping expand vocabulary, grammar and poem structures. Every week a winner is chosen and their poems are displayed in the English area. This is presented and available for students to read, and acquire inspiration.
